About Us

Amytis Gardens is a family run business. The 16 acres has been in the family for over 40 years, starting as a small homestead and farm.

Origin of the Name "Amytis Gardens"

The name Amytis Gardens is derived from one of the seven wonders of the ancient world.

"In 1605 BC Nebuchadnezzar became king of Babylon. He was the most successful warrior king ever. The only people Nebuchadnezzar did not try to conquer were the Medes. They lived in the wild mountain country far to Babylon's north. Instead of fighting, Nebuchadnezzar won the Medes over by marrying their princess, Amytis, and made friendly alliance between the two nations. Amytis had never lived anywhere besides the mountains, and she was used to them, but Babylonia was flat. She watched Nebuchadnezzar's men building walls, temples, and city gates, and she longed for the mountains. Nebuchadnezzar ordered his men to build the Hanging
Gardens to remind Amytis of her home".

The Hanging Gardens of Babylon were shared with the people of the time and it was thought that the garden had healing effects of those who visited. Amytis Gardens, also set on a mountain, hopes to re-create the feeling of calm.

Sunshine Coast accommodation

Our mountain chalet style accommodation all include sunken spa baths, balconies with bush views, king beds and crackling fireplaces to complete the feeling of escape and sanctuary. The design of the accommodation is reminiscent of the cottages of Southern France, and incorporates stunning hand painted glass panels imported from South America. Cooking Classes

One of our greatest drawcards is our Master Chef, Dorchester Hotel trained chef Matthew Conroy, who will either cook you an elegant and gourmet meal while you stay or visit for a special occasion such as a birthday lunch, or entertain and inform you as you dabble at some authentic Italian cooking or even engage in a Wicked Chocolate Cooking Class provided at our on-premises Cooking School. High Tea's & Lunches

Our exclusive and very traditional High Tea's are yet another service provided by Amytis Gardens Retreat & Day Spa and are becoming increasingly popular.

Our exquisite and very traditional High Teas are served between 2-4pm on Wednesday's, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. High teas are an excellent way to have a girlie get together or to share a special occasion with the female members of the family be it for Mother's Day, bridal showers, baby showers, mother-and-daughter outings, birthdays, or hens parties.
